Ten Years Later

Unless you were in the US 10 years ago and are passionate about wedding planning, there’s a good chance you never caught sight of this “Modern Bride” magazine.

“Modern Bride” was one of Condé Nast’s bridal publications until its demise in October 2009, giving way to the rise and triumph of Brides, today’s leading bridal publication.

Ten years ago, almost to the day, I bought this magazine not only because I was planning my own wedding in Provence at the time, but also for its “Destination Wedding Guide”, a concept that fascinated me.

Would you believe me if I said that I kept it all these years because I knew that one day I’d be running my own destination wedding business based in beautiful Provence?

You’d be right if you didn’t. At the time, in 2003, I was living in New York, living the corporate communications life as junior manager of my company and had no clue that destination weddings would become such a major part of my life.

Today, 10 years later, almost to the day, my own destination wedding business Un Grand OUI is featured as the Provence wedding planner in the CD-Rom supplement to the July/August issue of Brides UK.

How’s that for fate?

Five sliders were beautifully designed by our one and only Tarik @ BigFly Design, for this project. Thanks also to Remi Dupac and Magic Flight Studio for the gorgeous photography.

And now that I have finally, after all these years of lugging this magazine across the Atlantic Ocean and through many a move, put it to good use, I think I will at last send it to recycling heaven. My husband will thank me for lightening our load …a little bit.
